When will the fishing pier open in Waveland?

The fishing pier has been closed since Hurricane Issac. It was damaged by the storm and the resulting storm surge. There are plans to get the pier up and running as soon as possible. There have been some problems with calculating the actual damages caused by the pier. The engineering firm assigned to fixing this dilema is quickly working to resolve all outstanding issues.

Once the pier is up and running, the Garfield Ladner pier will be the best fishing pier on the coast of Mississippi. From this pier it is common to catch red fish, trout, sharks, flounder, crabs and even an occasional sea turtle. (Sea Turtles require reporting to authorities) They need to evaluate before release.

The pier has restroom facilities and lights. There is no diving, swimming, cast netting or crab pots allowed on the pier. You can use crab nets.

Early Morning sunrise over Old Town Bay Saint Louis Mississippi

Old Town Bay St Louis as seen before sunrise on the Gulf of Mexico

This morning was going to have the perfect sunrise. I convinced myself to hop out of bed to greet the colors of the day. I loaded up the camera and tripod and headed to Washington Street fishing pier in Old Town Bay St. Louis. The weather was cool and the water was calm. Boaters were using the launch in preparation for the great fishing ahead of dawn. The sun rose displaying a magnificent array of colors.

Here are a few of this morning's best sunrise photos over Bay St. Louis in Mississippi.

A great weekend get away! The Mississippi Gulf Coast

Mississippi Gulf Coast is a great get away and weekend drive from Waveland down to Pascagoula. Stop and shop in cities like Bay St. Louis, Pass Christian, Long Beach, Gulfport, Biloxi and Ocean Springs. Sunset is a great time to see the Coastal 90 Road.

Driving down Coastal Highway 90 in Mississippi is an experience in beach viewing. This is because for miles and miles and miles you will pass Piers, Shops, Restaurants and of course Beaches. Friday nights is our usual Dinner with the family night. We love to hop in the car almost at sunset and cruise from Pascagoula down to Waveland visiting each little beach town along the way. Scenic towns like Bay St. Louis, Pass Christian, Long Beach, Gulfport, Biloxi, Ocean Springs are covered during our drive. Along the way we pick a great dining spot and chow down some tasty treats. Being new to Mississippi, we have found that there are an amazing number of neat things to see and do along Coastal 90. Today I have learned of a giant rocking chair located in Gulfport at the Dedeaux furniture company. Pictures of the giant rocker will be coming soon. We just love giant and over-sized items for the site, just feels right. So keep submitting new items using our forms and submission links.
