The city of Waveland is aspiring towards having WiFi capabilities on the Waveland Pier Beach by the volleyball court. They want to put together a plan with a local company, DSL by Air, to bring internet connection to the visitors and locals in this area. The city has the possibility of using space on top of the tower. We talked to Ms. LiLi Stahler, Ward One Alderman, who said that she was 100% on board for the program. She wanted to urge discussions and help citizens be apart of the process. The city is holding a meeting tomorrow night, April 1st, 2014 at City Hall on Coleman Avenue on this item and voting for its implementation. This comes along side the completion of the beach volleyball court, with lights and security cameras for night time safety. Visitors and locals will be welcome to use this area during the upcoming summer months. Coastal 90 is hoping this will be a great addition for the city of Waveland as it plans for another great summer!
DSL by Air Works on Towers!
According to DSL by Air’s website they are starting construction on the first of many water towers in the Bay St Louis area. The first tower will be on the McLaurin st and Longfellow rd tower. It is the big blue tower that is easily seen from the Walmart parking lot on Hwy 90 just west of Hwy 603. They have spent countless hours meeting with the local government officials along with the county Utility Authority. They feel that this will be a good fit for the area. These units can be great for line of sight internet. Joe Miller and his team are excited about bringing internet to the people of Waveland, and so are we!
Check out their site for more information about the company and the plans for the Mississippi Coast!

The Coast is always ready for beachgoers! Tractors can frequently be seen out smoothing the sandy white beaches, making it really nice for locals and friends from out of town to visit! We love grabbing some drinks and cooking out on the coast. Check out some of our favorite local spots like The Blind Tiger for some nice royal reds and Bay Books for some gifts.
The Coast stays ready for visitors and friends to celebrate the any holiday, or just celebrate “Just Because It’s Tuesday”!!!
The Coast really has the Most!
Norman the Pig made an official appearance today with his owner, Ted Rozier, over in Old Town Bay St Louis. Norman is a young Micro-Pig who loves pork rinds, but don’t tell anybody! He also enjoys long walks with his owner and pal, Ted, (evenings by the fire, snuggling, and rainy days, too, maybe?!). Norman is a special breed of piggy hailing from up north, but like most snowbirds, he loves the Coast of Mississippi. He is a beautiful gray and white color, making him very noticeable from afar. The locals down in Old Town love seeing him and visit for while as he stops by the shops. Norman has made it his mission to befriend as many people as possible. So, no wonder Coastal90 writer, Joshua Holmes, loves hanging out with the beloved friend. As far as we can tell he’s the sweetest guy we’ve encountered in awhile. He loves to root in the Mississippi grass and to hang out in the sunshine.
Norman is a Micro-Pig and loves to have fun in the sun!
We love spending time with Norman when he’s on the Coast, so we hope you get to see him sometime too!
Thomas Jackson, a local artist and musician from Hattiesburg, Mississippi has been touring the Coast for years and has his heart set on making music for years to come. His latest release, Bridgeburner, is a heartfelt, soulful recording about coming home and living life under the southern sky. Thomas Jackson is also a writer and an artist. You can currently see his art at the Mockingbird Cafe in Bay St Louis where we were enjoying some Icy Pints the other night. He does a wide range of oil pastel paintings from superheroes to coastal fish. Growing up in Tupelo, Mississippi, Thomas enjoyed comic books as many of us did. He has rekindled that love for the arts and superheroes through his drawings and paintings.
Thomas moved to Hattiesburg in the 90’s for school to study graphic design. He soon fell in love with songwriting and playing shows. Since then, he’s been doing music full time, teaching in Hattiesburg and painting on his off days. He was set to release his debut comic book in 2014.
Thomas is really passionate about his music and the Arts renaissance that the Coast is experiencing right now. We spoke for quite some time about the beautiful history of Mississippi music makers and the arts of our local community.
You can catch Thomas playing at many of the local bars and clubs throughout Hattiesburg almost every weekend!
